Growing Season

Growing Season

Spring Accessories

I am SO excited for spring!  As a mother of two (ages 1 and 3) it was a challenging winter for me rotating between viruses, and it continually made me question myself as a mother.  I just never anticipated being a parent would be so difficult; but I heard a quote that 1 child is like one, and 2 children is like 20.  And this became a mantra that actually helped me get through this winter!  So it is with great great anticipation I am welcoming spring this year with open arms.

And this spring I am excited, because I have ordered light pink vintage roses from David Austin!  This will be my first attempt to grow roses, and although I have an awesome teacher (my mom) who basically bosses me around every spring when it's time for planting, I (and she can attest to this) do not have a green thumb.  Regardless these roses are the epitome of romance for me, and I am determined to persevere and have a billowing romantic wall of roses on the side of my house.  I promise to send an update of what it actually looks like after they have been planted, but for now this is the image I'm living with in my mind.

So it's with this giddy anticipation that I can't help but be totally inspired by vintage roses this year, and it's reflected in our store!  Not only have we added a beautiful display of flowers in the window marking our excitement for spring, but we have some new lines that arrived in the store that are all about roses, and herbs (another obsession of mine.)

We are so happy to be carrying Mullein and Sparrow, a beautiful bath and body company based out of Brooklyn NY.  Some of our favorites have been their bath salts and body oil that have actual dried rose and rosemary.  And we couldn't be more in love with their sweet packaging.

Good weather also means romantic picnics and the return of fruits, vegetables and the fresh herbs!  I'm not sure there is anything better for me than fresh basil, and if you add it to pizza well then it's just heaven.  Last year I dabbled in an herb garden, but when I brought my rosemary inside for winter, well it just didn't make it (proving I don't have a green thumb.)  So when I ran into Modern Sprout, I just knew these little mason jar self watering herb kits were genius!  You fill the jar with water and it's obvious when you need to refill, almost fool proof.  I just love them and the different color mason jars!

If you are looking to add romance into a meal, trust me fresh herbs are the way to go.  Here are some suggestions for simple to impress recipes, fresh mint lemonade, lavender tea, tomato and basil salad, and watermelon and mint salad.

I'm also excited to introduce another Brooklyn based company called Good Candle.  We just received their mason jar candles in our store, and I couldn't resist including their rose fragrance.  It is absolutely divine.

These are just a few of the new lines that we are now carrying in the store, I do hope that you can come visit us, but if not at the very least please join me this spring and let's smell the roses!

With love,

Emily
